At our Bed and Breakfast we believe that comfortable accommodation and a wholesome and hearty breakfast are essential to all kinds of success.
We have become good friends with many of our guests, especially those who return again and again for the major local events: Man Versus Horse in Llanwrtyd Wells and The Royal Welsh Show are the two most important annual attractions.
I confess to a sense of personal pride when one of my guests takes a prize. We have hosted the best novice and best senior in the Man Versus Horse and numerous rosette winners in several in-hand and ridden classes at the Royal Welsh. I really think that our breakfast has something to do with it…
Even when guests stay in the self catering Coach House they often ask if they may come to breakfast after hearing from a house guest how delicious it was. I know that this is beginning to sound boastful, so perhaps a menu is needed so that you may judge for yourself.
Start with a selection of cereals – all the classics are are available like Cornflakes and Weetabix, but do try Hilary’s Special made with toasted flakes of wheat, maize and almonds and sweetened with dried dates and sultanas. Please ask for a bowl of porridge on a cold day!
Your main course -choose from the list below, or better still, have them all:
- award winning bacon, home cured by Bujok’s of Builth
- Bujok’s own sausages, for example ‘pork and leek’, and vegetarian choices too
- free range eggs, as local as possible
- tomatoes, our own when in season, and mushrooms
- toasted home-baked bread
If you are feeling especially hungry:
Breconshire Breakfast Pudding – all your favourite ingredients baked together in the Aga pan – the vegetarian option works particularly well, with quartered mushrooms and cherry tomatoes
And to finish:
- Home-made bread; brown, white and fruited
- Tyrannell preserves made with home-grown or foraged fruit
- Tyrannell organic seville orange marmalade
- Tyrannell honey
Of course, all our tea is organic, our coffee is Fairtrade and freshly ground and our tomato sauce made in the Tyrannell kitchen.
